University College London Hospital (UCLH) - Case Study

Opening in 2005 the UCLH will be protected by some of the most advanced fire and security measures in the health sector.

The Private Finance Initiative (PFI) hospital in central London will have CCTV cameras installed at strategic points and will be monitored by three central control rooms.  Nursing stations in individual wards will also be able to view images from the entrance to their own areas.

An advanced fire detection system will monitor for any potential outbreak of fire and, if necessary control evacuation or activate the hospital's sprinkler system.
