London Borough of Hackney
Protecting the public
With the aim of reducing crime in the Borough, ADT won the tender to install 70 new cameras at strategic sites, to work with the existing 56 camera network in Hackney.
The system covers markets, car parks, housing estates, shopping areas and bus lanes and sends pictures to the Borough’s state-of-the-art CCTV and Emergency Planning Monitoring Suite. More than £1 million was invested in the project, and 600 km of fibre-optic cables were laid beneath 10km of Hackney’s road network. Particular hotspots and times when crimes occur have now been identified, in order to ensure the best use of CCTV operators.
One of the largest CCTV projects of its type in the UK, the ADT system was completed on time in just nine months. |
