ADT Fire Detection Systems - CO Fire Detector

ADT Fire Detection - Carbon Monoxide Fire Detectors
ADT is renowned for being at the leading edge of the technological evolution in the fire alarm industry.
The MU601 and 801CH Carbon Monoxide fire detectors are part of a reliable yet unique product range.  Although suitable for a broad range of fire detection applications the sensors are extremely effective in sleeping risks and applications where traditional smoke detection techniques are prone to false alarms. Why Carbon Monoxide?
Irrespective of how sophisticated a smoke detector can become, it relies on smoke reaching the detector before an alarm decision can be made.  Many other phenomena act very much like smoke particles, potentially causing unwanted alarms.  Carbon Monoxide detection solves both these problems.
The Carbon Monoxide fire detector has improved the speed of detection from slow smouldering fires.  This is because Carbon Monoxide is a gas and therefore diffuses more evenly in air than smoke particles.  By early detection of these types of fires, the Carbon Monoxide fire detector ensures evacuation takes place, before the means of escape becomes blocked, or people are too disorientated to use it.
The Carbon Monoxide fire detector has also reduced the possibility of false alarms by its immunity to stimuli which can cause unwanted alarms in smoke detectors.  The normal cause of false alarms such as dust, steam, cigarette smoke, toasters and other airborne particles, do not emit sufficient levels of CO to trigger an alarm. Slow smouldering fires
A disproportionate number of fatalities are caused by fires which start slowly.  Only 15% of all fires are responsible for 80% of deaths, mainly due to the inhalation of poisonous gas. Research into these types of fires shows that smoke may not be given off for many minutes, or even hours, but during this time levels of carbon monoxide can build so that people sleeping inhale large quantities of the gas.  Even if they do awake, they are often too disorientated to save themselves.
